Writing Articles for Money-HBB Idea

I read a post today in a forum (link below) and thought it was an interesting concept for those who are working from home.  Personally, I write several articles a month and never once considered selling them.

The concept is you write an article and submit it to an article auction of sorts.  If the article is appealing to someone or in a category of particular interest they will bid on your article.  You, as the author, by submitting your article have released your rights to that particular company.  For example, in the thread listed below, the company is called AC or Associated Content.  If you sign up for an account and publish an exclusive article a bid will then be placed.  If you accept the bid than the rights for that article will be turned over to AC for use where they deem fit.  You will not have complete control as to where the content will be published.

I think the only problem I have with this is pride.  I am proud of what I write and would be concerned with who was using my content and why.  If your articles contain rich content that is relevant to current events or situations I would be worried that it would fall into the hands of the highest bidder and possibly misrepresent the message.

Still, this would be something to consider if you can write generic articles that you may not have a strong attachment to.  My suggestion, if you pursue this type of work, would be to use the suggestions provided for articles and stick to factual content.  If your articles are factual in nature there is little that can be done to misconstrue the meaning.

If your article is written based on your opinion it may attract the wrong attention.  Keep in mind that there are businesses and groups all over the internet that may feel like your article will attract attention to them or their company.  Without having control of who uses your pieces these could be an association that don’t want to get involved in.

As I understand this whole process, you are basically turning over your rights to the article upon submission.  In addition, the payment for these articles are something around $2 for each article.  Please do correct me if I am wrong.

The bottom line is I would want to do some serious research before you post your work out there especially if you are going to work at this full time.  If you spent 6 hours a day and produced 6 decent articles rich in content than you would earn a whopping $12 a day.  I am sure there are other companies out there as well so I might behoove you to take a peek and see what you find.  The other thing to consider is selling the rights to your work.

That’s just my two cents for the day!
